I met Dr Naci Sevinc last in July 2017, when I visited Ankara with my family to attend 30th year of graduation for my entry year of 1983. He had grown older and frail but the voice and confidence was still there which I first encountered in our Thermodynamics class (MetE 202) in Spring 1985. His grasp on subject was excellent and the way he taught the lesson was absorbing. You always learnt and understood the concepts without fail. I continued to take further classes from him in the final year and I still have his notes of Ferrous Metallurgy classes with me. His testing techniques always enthralled me and I always tell my children and peers how he used to ask us to write anything on both sides of A4 paper and bring it to the midterm or final. It went on to two pages in Advanced Thermodynamics course which I took during in postgraduate studies. If your concept was clear the question paper was easy to do or else the cheat sheet didn't help. That was the way he taught us theory to be effective and practical engineers in our professional lives. Naci hoca was a mentor for all. His death saddened all of his students. May his soul rest in peace in the Heavens and give patience to his aggrieved family. I would also take opportunity to remember other departed gems of our department starting from Prof Dr. Erdogan Tekin, Prof Dr. Sakir Bor, Prof Dr Mustafa Doruk (I attended his funeral in 2017), Prof Dr. Muherrem Timucin and the young Yener Kuruk. As mentors, we learnt a lot from all of them. May Allah bless their souls and place it among His loved ones. Ameen
